ATLANTA and TAMPA, Fla., March 2, 2017 /PRNewswire/ — WellCare of Georgia, a subsidiary of WellCare Health Plans, Inc. (NYSE: WCG), is reminding Georgia Families® program members to enroll themselves and their children in a health plan during open enrollment.

Beginning March 1, 2017, those who participate in Medicaid or PeachCare for Kids® programs will have until March 31, 2017 to enroll in a health plan. If no selection is made, the Georgia Department of Community Health (DCH) will assign program members to a health plan.

«Today, more than one million Georgia children are enrolled in Medicaid. It’s critical that children and their families qualifying for Medicaid benefits maintain their health care coverage with the health plan of their choice,» said Dr. John Alexander Johnson, senior medical director, WellCare of Georgia. «Preventing disease and illness before they occur is essential to helping people live better, healthier lives and to managing the costs of health care for Georgians.»

Georgia Families® Program members can visit or call 888-423-6765 to speak with a representative about open enrollment. For questions about WellCare and Medicaid benefits, please visit or call 1-866-231-1821 (TTY 1-877-247-6272).

As of Dec. 31, 2016, WellCare serves approximately 571,000 Medicaid and PeachCare for Kids® plan members, 40,000 Medicare Advantage plan members and 23,000 Medicare Prescription Drug Plan members in Georgia. To learn more about how WellCare cares for Georgians, watch Gloria’s story at
